CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Officials are delaying the opening of East Lynn Lake in Wayne County until repairs are made to tornado-damaged park facilities.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says reservations for the campground from May 11-31 have been canceled, and campers will get refunds.
Damage from the EF3 tornado on March 2 at the park was confined to the East Fork Campground. The corps says trees were toppled at campsites, and electrical and phone lines and other facilities were damaged.
The campground is now scheduled to open June 1. The storm didn't affect day-use areas, shelters and the marina.
The corps hoped the park would be ready by May 20.Camping reservations are being accepted through the National Recreation Reservation Service for June.
