CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Several West Virginia state parks will participate in next week's Great Backyard Bird Count, being conducted across the United States and Canada.

The four-day event starts Feb. 15.

Visitors may help with bird-counting activities at Blackwater Falls, Cacapon and Pipestem state parks.

Bird lovers may even take part from their own homes. Participants count birds for at least 15 minutes on one or more days, and then enter their tallies at www.birdsource.org. No registration is required.
