Big game

 

  • Black bears may be hunted with firearms in selected counties through Sept. 27. The bag limit is one bear a season.
  •  

    Small game

     

  • Squirrels may be hunted through Jan. 31. The bag limit is six squirrels a day.
  •  

    Upland birds

     

  • Mourning doves may be hunted through Oct. 5. The bag limit is 15 doves a day.
  •  

     

  • Sora and Virginia rails may be hunted through Nov. 2. The bag limit is 25 rails a day.
  •  

     

  • Common snipes may be hunted through Dec. 7. The bag limit is eight snipes a day.

  • The early segment of West Virginia's firearm season for bear will close, one-half hour after sunset.

  • West Virginia's archery seasons for deer and bear will begin, one-half hour before sunrise.
