SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. -- Gauley River flows below the Summersville Dam will be stopped temporarily later this month while crews inspect the dam's outflow tunnel.
The inspection will be conducted Feb. 25, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said. River flows are expected to return to normal on the evening of Feb. 26.
The inspection is the last phase of inspections that began in November 2013, Summersville resource manager Toby Wood said. Wood said the next round of dam tunnel inspections is scheduled for 2012.
