Early Canada geese season in state starts Sept. 1
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia hunters can take aim at Canada geese next month.
The early Canada geese season begins Sept. 1 and runs through Sept. 15. Hunts may be conducted from a half hour before sunrise until sunset.
Division of Natural Resources' Wildlife Resources Section Chief Curtis Taylor says Canada geese are likely to be found in the vicinity of a lake or river.
Besides a hunting license, hunters must possess a federal waterfowl stamp and a free Migratory Bird Harvest Information Program registration card.
Registration is free and available from DNR offices and all hunting license outlets.
