  • The second segment of West Virginia's three-part season for mourning doves will end at sunset.
  • Nov. 11

  • The Almost Heaven Archers will hold their monthly meeting, 7 p.m., at the Gander Mountain Store in Southridge Centre. Call 304-744-2455.
  • Nov. 12

  • The Kanawha Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold its monthly meeting, 7 p.m., at the South Charleston Public Library.

  • West Virginia's firearm season for buck deer will begin, one-half hour before sunrise.
  • West Virginia's early firearm bear season will begin, one-half hour before sunrise, in selected counties.
  • Field Notes

  • Fishing rodeo: The City of Charleston will host a three-day trout-fishing rodeo Nov. 10-12 at the Cato Park swimming pool.
  • The pool will be stocked with approximately 300 pounds of trout that average 11/2 pounds apiece. Ten fish will be tagged, and anglers who catch tagged fish receive prizes.

    Fishing on Nov. 10 will be restricted to youths 15 years and under, who will be allowed to fish at no charge. Fishing on Nov. 11 and 12 will be open to young people and adults, but anyone age 16 and older must pay a $10-a-day rod fee.

    Hours for the event are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is billed as tobacco-free.
