W.Va. DNR to hold public meetings on hunting rules

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia wildlife officials are holding public meetings around the state on proposed hunting regulations.

The Division of Natural Resources has scheduled meetings Monday in Fairmont, Martinsburg, Summersville, Lewisburg, Milton and Harrisville. Meetings also will be held Tuesday in Glen Dale, Moorefield, Elkins, Beckley, Logan and Parkersburg.

The proposed regulations include 2013 rules for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, black bear and board, and general hunting and trapping regulations for 2014-2015.

Public comment will be taken during the meetings. Hunters, trappers, anglers, landowners and other interested parties also can discuss the proposed regulations with state wildlife biologists and conservation officers.

Written comments will be accepted through April 5.
