HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall University's Recreation Center is offering classes for people who want to train for distance running.
The five-week class is aimed at getting people ready for their first five-kilometer run or for experienced runners who want to improve their times.
A signup event Thursday night will include talks about nutrition, fitness, stretching exercises and even what shoes to wear. After that the first class will be held May 21.Barboursville-based running group TriStateRacer will reimburse the fees of up to 50 people who take the classes and finish the West Virginia 5k Championship on June 22 in Huntington. The class costs $29 for recreation center members and $35 for nonmembers. The race itself is $20.
