College roundup: Campbellsville defeats WVU Tech 72-66

Nestor Colmenares tallied 19 points and nine rebounds to pace host Cambellsville to a 72-66 Mid-South Conference men's basketball win over WVU Tech Saturday.

Devon Jenkins added 18 points for Campbellsville (19-6). Sam Robertson had a game-high 24 points for WVU Tech (9-11) and Brandon Moore added 13. The Golden Bears trailed 36-25 at the half.

Women

  • SHEPHERD 79, CHARLESTON 54: Krissy Grosslein tallied 22 points and eight rebounds to lead Shepherd to a victory Saturday at Eddie King Gym.
  • Laura Harkins added 16 points for the Rams (16-5, 13-2), who made 12-of-12 free throws and had four to score double-digits scorers. The Golden Eagles (14-9, 11-5) were paced by Kaitlyn Arick with 17 points and Veronica Carmen with 10.

    "Shepherd is a very good team and they were ready to play, looking solid on both offense and defense," said UC coach Sherry Winn. "We looked like we were a young and inexperienced team and when you face such a good team that has a lot of experience, your youth really shows through."

  • GLENVILLE STATE 93, OHIO VALLEY 66: Mallory Menendez netted 21 points while Donita Adams added 19 as the host Pioneers (12-10, 10-5) surged past Ohio Valley. Christine DeSabato scored 13 points for Glenville and Kim Stephens chipped in 11.
  • The Fighting Scots (3-19, 3-12) were led by Rachel Deaton's 21 points, while Brittany Brooks added 11 points and Natalie Kline 10.

  • CAMPBELLSVILLE 91, WVU TECH 81: Courtney Dannis recorded a double-double with 38 points - including going 12-for-15 on foul shots - and 11 rebounds for host Campbellsville (15-10).
  • Melly Heaton added 26 points, including six 3-pointers for Campbellsville and Kristi Ensminger scored 16 points. WVU Tech (12-13) was led by Shy Wright and Sabreen Lanier, who each netted 14 points.
