James Helton pulled off a double-double (29 points, 10 rebounds) and Perrick Robinson handed out a staggering 22 assists Thursday as West Virginia State racked up a 111-74 West Virginia Conference victory at Bluefield State.
Also for the Yellow Jackets (18-8 overall, 16-3 WVC), Hensley Charles threw down 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Wade Pidock sank five 3-pointers and scored 19 points and Calvin Booth went 3-of-3 from long range and tallied 13 points.
West Virginia State led 58-36 at halftime and wound up shooting 56 percent. The Jackets also led 49-35 in rebounds.
For the Big Blues (2-24, 2-17), Shannon Thomas had 26 points and 10 rebounds, Howard Coston scored 19 points and Jerome Johnson added 13 points and 10 boards.
CONCORD 85, UC 75: Cordale Boyd's 22 points led five players in double figures as the visiting Mountain Lions knocked off the University of Charleston.
Dannie Parker added 20 points, Matthew Parker 14, Rafee Smith 12 and Anthony Lansdowne 10 for Concord, which trailed 40-34 at the break but outscored UC 51-35 in the second half. The Mountain Lions shot a blister 54 percent (34-of-63) from the field.
Robert Strickland turned in 19 points and 19 rebounds for the Golden Eagles while Marquis Brooks netted 21 points and seven boards and John White 14 points and eight rebounds. UC only shot 42.4 percent (28-of-66) from the field, including 68.6 percent (6-of-21) from 3-point range.

UC 89, CONCORD 74: Five Golden Eagles reached double figures for the University of Charleston, which raced to a 41-21 halftime lead in Athens and never looked back.
"It's was nice to have five players in double figures, which is key," said UC coach Sherry Winn. "Any time you can get five players in double figures, it gives you a good chance to win the game. This is a nice win for us, especially since we've been struggling at times this season."
UC forward Jihan Williams notched a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Kaitlyn Arick scored a game-high 23 points for UC while Veronica Carman added 13 points. Emily Jones and Lindsey Kentner chipped in 10 points apiece for the Golden Eagles (16-10).
Jamie Cluesman led the Moutain Lions in scoring with 17 points and dished out nine assists while Megan Cole added 16 points. Amber Showalter scored 13 points for Concord (18-8) with Becca Flanagan adding 12 points and Sierra Brown chipping in 10.
