The Yellow Jackets' Josh Kuykendall won the opener, pitching two innings of three-hit relief, and Shane Long earned the win in the nightcap, allowing one run and two hits in three innings of relief.
State's Chad Chambers also homered in the second game.

WVU BASEBALL: Sophomore Steve Morrison pitched eight strong innings in his first start of the season to lead West Virginia to a 4-1 victory over George Mason Sunday in the Baseball at the Beach Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Morrison (1-0) allowed just one run on five hits while striking out 10. The Mountaineers recorded 12 hits and were paced by multiple-hit games from Jedd Gyorko, Justin Parks and Tyler Kuhn.
WVU (5-3) returns to action for its home opener against Duquesne at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hawley Field.

The Herd's Kurt Lipton contributed three hits and four RBIs, and Nate Lape had three hits and two RBIs. The Herd (2-5) returns to non-conference action Tuesday at Radford, Va.

MARSHALL SOFTBALL: Marshall second baseman Deanna Tourville hit her fourth and fifth home runs of the season, but they weren't enough as Wright State rallied for a 9-3 victory Sunday morning at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Tourville finished with all three Herd RBIs and leads the team with five home runs and 17 RBIs.
In an afternoon game, Tennessee-Chattanooga's Michelle Fuzzard hit a walk-off home run as the Lady Mocs defeated the Herd 6-5.
Marshall (8-10) totaled nine hits, including three by catcher Rachel Folden, who is hitting .455. Caitlyn Jackson and Rachael Sofie had two hits each.

WVU GYMNASTICS: Junior Mehgan Morris scored 39.1 points in the all-around as the West Virginia gymnastics team topped Pitt 194.025-191.975, Saturday night at Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh.
The Mountaineers (11-7, 5-0) picked up their fifth straight conference win to stay unbeaten versus EAGL opponents.
Morris was the all-around champion after posting her fourth score above 39 points in her last five meets. Junior Erica Watson placed second with a total of 38.95 points on all four events.

HERD WOMEN: Marshall received the sixth seed for the Conference USA women's basketball tournament, which gets underway Thursday in Orlando, Fla.
The Herd (15-15) will play No. 11 Tulane at 2:30 p.m. in a first-round game Thursday. The Marshall/Tulane winner will take on No. 3 Alabama-Birmingham at 2:30 p.m. in Friday's quarterfinals. UTEP, SMU, UAB and Houston earned first-round byes with UTEP getting the top seed.
