Roundup: Jobst 5-for-5 in State's 19-4 win over West Liberty

Joey Jobst went 5-for-5 to pace West Virginia State's 21-hit attack in a 19-4 win at West Liberty in a West Virginia Conference baseball matchup Monday.

Jobst doubled twice, scored three runs and knocked in a run. Eric Workman went 3-for-4 with a triple, home run and two RBIs and Robert Hawkins belted a three-run round-tripper for the Yellow Jackets (25-11). Zeb Reed had three RBIs for State.

State's Travis McGrath improved to 6-2, tossing two innings of shutout ball. Sean Jackson went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs for the Hilltoppers.

CHARITY GOLF: Club pros Barry Evans of Berry Hills, Jonathan Clark of Sleepy Hollow and Craig Berner of Edgewood will compete in a three-day charity golf event next week.

As part of the Kanawha Valley Golf Association's men's championship, Evans, Clark and Berner will play April 28-30 beginning with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. each day.

The winner will designate 50 percent of the total pot, which was about $3,000 last year, to his favorite charity. The two others will designate 25 percent to their favorite charities.

The money will come from members' donations.

WV CHAOS: The West Virginia Chaos soccer club has added defender Nick Beasant and goalkeeper Adam Mitchell, both of England. 

Beasant has played in European developmental and reserve teams in the English Premier League and for several professional American teams.

Mitchell recently played for the Norwegian Division 2 League.

The Chaos will play an exhibition match against Ashland Park FC of Ashland, Ky., at 8 p.m. May 11 at Schoenbaum Stadium. Admission is $2.
