SHEPHERD 81, GLEN-VILLE 75: Fred Lymas led the way for Shepherd with 19 points as the Rams (6-7, 5-1) defeated Glenville State. Justin Jarman got into the act with 17 points while Liki Turner added 14 points and eight rebounds.
Tryvan leech also had 19 points but in a loss for Glenville (8-4, 2-3). Gabe Gibbs came off the bench and went for 16 points and nine boards.

UC WOMEN WIN: Jihan Williams turned in 12 points and 12 assists as the University of Charleston beat West Liberty 70-50 Monday in a West Virginia Conference women's basketball matchup at Eddie King.
The Golden Eagles (10-4 overall, 6-1 WVC) started the second half on a 20-7 run and never looked back. UC held West Liberty (6-5, 2-2) to 28 percent shooting in the second half and forced 20 turnovers.
"I thought defensively we played superbly," said UC coach Sherry Winn. "We really didn't allow their 3-point shooters to get a good look at the basket."
UC's Veronica Carman had 12 points and Lindsey Kentner 10 for the Golden Eagles, who received 27 points from their bench.
"We had a great team effort and that's what I like to see," said Winn.
West Liberty's Kayla Ayers led all scorers with 17 points in just 22 minutes and landed 11 boards.
W.VA. STATE 66, WHEELING JESUIT 61: Brittany Mingo scored 20 points, including 14 in the second half, as West Virginia State rallied past the visiting Cardinals.
State trailed by nine with 8:19 to play, then went on a 11-2 run to knot the game at 53-all with 5:08 to play. The teams traded leads down the stretch until the Yellow Jackets scored six of the final eight points.

Mallory Menendez poured in 31 points for Glenville (4-6, 3-2) while Adams finished with 16, Beth Deren added 12, Kim Stevens 11 and Kristen Golden 10. Katie Warehime netted 33 points for Shepherd (4-9, 1-5) while Krissy Grosselin notched 20 and Camille Wilmer 10.
PITT JOHNSTOWN 72, WESLEYAN 70: Sheena Aden swished two foul shots with one second left in overtime to send the Mountain Cats past West Virginia Wesleyan.
Aden led all scorers with 27 points while Andrea Dalton chipped in 20 points for the Pitt Johnstown (7-5, 5-0) and Qiuana Brown 10. Sarah Van Horn scored 24 points and grabbed 13 for the Bobcats (6-5, 3-1) while Lydia Bridenbaugh threw in 13 points and Angela Tassari 10.

WVC HONORS: Alderson-Broaddus' Stan Hall was named the West Virginia Conference men's basketball player of the week Monday. West Liberty's Tori Hansen and Pitt Johnstown's Sheena Aden shared the women's honor.
Hall, a 6-foot-3 senior guard from Canton, Ohio, averaged 27.5 points per game, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists as the Battlers earned two wins last week to run their winning streak to eight. Hansen, a 5-8 sophomore guard from Waterford, Pa., averaged 14.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists as the Hilltoppers picked up a pair of victories.

WVU GYMNASTICS: Chelsi Tabor, a gymnast from Beckley, was named West Virginia University's athlete of the week Monday.
Tabor tied for first on the vault, finished seventh in the floor exercise and posted a strong 9.525 score on beam as the Mountaineers opened the season Friday with a narrow loss to No. 1 Georgia.
Mehgan Morris, a Riverside High graduate, also produced a strong showing at the event, leading the Mountaineers with a 9.85 score in the all-around and uneven bars. WVU moved up eight spots to No. 18 in Monday's GymInfo poll.

MU TENNIS: The Marshall University women's tennis team will start the season ranked No. 46 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Herd senior Kellie Schmitt earned a No. 33 individual ranking and was No. 3 in the East Region. Schmitt and double's partner Karolina Soor are No. 44 in the ITA rankings and the No. 3 combo in the East Region.
