Roundup: Herrion, Calipari at fund-raiser Monday

Marshall men's basketball coach Tom Herrion and Kentucky men's coach John Calipari will appear at a fund-raising event at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Ashland Plaza Hotel in Ashland, Ky.

Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Both coaches will address the audience on their team's expectations for the 2010-11 season and greet fans of their programs. Some seats and tables remain available, including tables in the main dining room. The seats are $125 each and tables of 10 may be purchased for $1,250.

Seats at the head table with coaches Calipari and Herrion are $1,000 apiece.

The cost of seats and tables are tax deductible since all proceeds will benefit Ashland Main Street, a non-profit group. To purchase seats or tables or for more information, call Danny Craig at 606-232-2744.

  • UC FOOTBALL: The University of Charleston Alumni Office is sponsoring the FBI Community Fingerprinting Program in the Golden Eagles' home opener against Mars Hill at 1 p.m. today at UC Stadium.

    FBI officials will perform digital fingerprint scans of children and give free information to parents and guardians. They will also hand out information packets for those that prefer to complete the forms at home.

    All children 12 and under get into the game for free. Tickets courtesy of Triana Energy are available at the Charleston Town Center Mall at the guest services booth or by calling 304-720-6690.

    The Herd plays Appalachian State, which beat Iona 1-0, in the finals at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

    Kerns, from Hurricane, got caught out of net but recovered and dived on the ball before Radford's SharDavia Bell could get a close-range shot off.
