GW wins MSAC golf title

George Washington posted three of the top eight individual scores Wednesday and captured the team title in the Mountain State Athletic Conference golf tournament at the par-71 Big Bend Golf Course in Tornado.

The Patriots finished with a team score of 298, five shots better than Cabell Midland. Defending champion Hurricane (304) was third, followed by Parkersburg (307) and Huntington (309).

Alan Cooke of Parkersburg had the day's lone under-par round, firing a 70. Brooke Bellomy of Cabell Midland and Logan Williams of Hurricane finished tied for second in the individual race with even-par 71s. Tommy O'Neil of GW had a 72.
