Root Sports turns spotlight on WVU, Herd
Advertiser

Root Sports Pittsburgh is launching a lineup of "Wild and Wonderful Sports," including West Virginia and Marshall football and basketball events.

Root, carried on channel 29 on Suddenlink cable in the Kanawha Valley, is the successor to Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh. Three of the FSN branches were sold to DirecTV Sports Networks and rebranded.

WVU-oriented programming will begin at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 30 with football coach Dana Holgorsen's press conference. The schedule through Oct. 1 includes live games with Norfolk State (Sept. 10) and the Bowling Green game (Oct. 1).

Root also will air replays of WVU's games with Marshall, Maryland and Louisiana State.

"Marshall Football Today" will air several times during September, beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 7. It has not been announced whether Root will pick up the Herd's two FSN games, Nov. 12 at Tulsa and Nov. 17 at Memphis.

Most of MU's other games have been picked up by ESPN, ESPN3.com, Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast or CBS College Sports.
