Hopson out as Memphis defensive coordinator
Advertiser

Jay Hopson has resigned as defensive coordinator at Memphis in the wake of the Tigers' 47-3 loss to Arkansas State. Hopson is a former Marshall assistant who served under Bob Pruett from 1996-2000.

Hopson resigned after being told he would be reassigned to a new position with the Tigers. Galen Scott and former Alabama coach Mike DuBose are assuming co-coordinator duties.

Shannon Morrison, an Oak Hill native and recent MU assistant under Mark Snyder, coaches the secondary for Memphis, which plays host to Marshall on Nov. 17 and has lost 19 of its last 20 games.
