Playoff roundup: No. 1 Martinsburg rolls over Woodrow

Senior Chris Perkins was almost unstoppable as defending Class AAA champion Martinsburg downed No. 16 Woodrow Wilson 49-13 at home Friday night.

Perkins scored four times for the No. 1 ranked Bulldogs (11-1), catching one touchdown pass, running for a pair of scores, and returning a punt 94 yards for a TD. Cedric Brown also scored two touchdowns for the home team.

Andrew Johnson accounted a pair of touchdowns for the Flying Eagles (5-6), including a 48-yard TD pass to Zachary Tilley.

  • PARK. SOUTH 51, LOGAN 8: Logan Cox had four carries for 102 yards rushing scored of 50 and 33 yards for visiting Parkersburg South.
  • Jordan Quiocho had 10 rushes for 87 yards and two scores for the Class AAA No. 13 Patriots (7-4), while Jake Douglas had 10 carries for 51 yards and one TD.

    Joseph Street scored on a 10-yard run for No. 4 Logan (8-3), which was seeking its first-ever playoff win. The Wildcats hadn't hosted a postseason game since 1991.

  • BRIDGEPORT 28, RCB 21: Brett Hathaway ran for 191 yards and three TDs to lead No. 2 host Bridgeport to a first-round win against No. 15 Robert C. Byrd.
  • The Indians, who have won their last six home playoff games, meet No. 7 Cabell Midland, next week in the quarterfinals in Bridgeport. The victory also marked the 600th win in school history.

    Hathaway gave the Indians a 7-0 lead on their first drive of the game as he capped a 10-play drive with a 5-yard scoring run. The Eagles tied it when linebacker Jermodd Garrett picked up a fumble after a bad exchange and ran in for a 28-yard TD late in the first quarter.

    Bridgeport went up 21-7 in the span of about two minutes in the third quarter after Anthony Bonamico scored on a 38-yard run and, after forcing a three-and-out by the Eagles, Hathaway scored on a 43-yard run.

    RCB answered with an 11-yard TD pass from Adam Secret to Mo Hython late in the third. But the Indians again answered quickly as they scored on their next possession with Hathaway scoring on a 7-yard run, his 18th TD run of the season, to cap a nine-play drive.

    HUNTINGTON 56, PARKERSBURG 20: The host Highlanders (8-3) racked up 542 yards of total offense and rushed for 405 yards as a team in their first-round win.

    Highlanders quarterback Mark Shaver accounted for four scores -- three through the air -- and helped his team score 42 consecutive points after the Big Reds took an early 14-7 lead.

    Elijah King finished with 206 scrimmage -- 142 rushing, 64 receiving -- and two scores. Paden Christian rushed for 82 yards and two scores, and Nick Tubbs added 89 yards and a score.

    Toquan Hayes added two receiving TDs from Shaver and an interception in the victory, which puts Huntington at No. 1 Martinsburg next weekend.

    Adam Lindamood rushed for 110 yards and two scores for Parkersburg (7-4), and Alex Ash was 13-of-25 for 131 yards through the air.

    Class AA

  • POINT 41, RITCHIE 0: Teran Barnitz and Jarrod Long each scored two touchdowns to give host Point Pleasant its first playoff win since 1979.
  • Eric Roberts went 12-of-15 passing for 214 yards for the Class AA No. 1 Big Blacks (11-0), and found nine different receivers, including Brandon Toler twice for 88 yards.

    Reno Jackson led Ritchie County (6-5) with 17 carries for 37 yards. Point outgained the Rebels 426-63.

  • BRAXTON 42, GREEN. WEST 14: Jordan Lacy accounted for three TDs and Jacob Yanero added two as Class AA No. 12 Braxton County upset host Greenbrier West.
  • Lacy went 11-of-17 passing for 143 yards and scored two TDs on the ground, while connecting with Easton Hutton for a 17-yard pass for the Eagles (8-3). Zach Perkins returned an interception 29 yards for a score for Braxton.

    Dylan Trout had 24 rushes for 109 yards and one touchdown for the No. 5 Cavaliers (9-2), while Jabez Fleming added one TD.

  • KEYSER 48, WESTSIDE 6: It was a long five-hour bus ride for No. 14 Keyser, but the team came up big, upsetting No. 3 Westside.
