The West Virginia Conference has announced that Ohio Valley University's women's basketball team has forfeited four games this season.
Ohio Valley impermissibly allowed an ineligible student-athlete to participate in contests on Jan. 2, 5, 7 and 9, and those games will be considered forfeit losses for OVU in the WVC standings. The matter has been reported to the NCAA for action by the enforcement and championship staffs.
MARSHALL SOFTBALL: Marshall's Andi Williamson was named the Conference USA softball pitcher of the week. Williamson struck out a 19 in 151/3 innings and posted a 0.91 ERA in wins over Charleston Southern and Akron.
WVC SPORTS: Concord's Jolysa Brown and Fairmont State's Kaitlin Snyder earned West Virginia Conference women's basketball co-player of the week honors.
Brown guided the Mountain Lions to a 2-0 week, averaging 24 points and 12.5 rebounds while dishing out 5.5 assists per contest. Snyder, a former Sissonville standout, averaged 26.3 points, 6.3 assists and five rebounds to help the Falcons go 2-1 on the week.
