After earning a first-round bye, West Virginia University's women's basketball team opens second-round play in the Big East tournament against Syracuse at noon today at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.
The Orange (18-13, 6-10 Big East) defeated Providence 57-47 Friday.
WVU (21-8, 11-5) defeated Syracuse 76-72 in the only meeting of the two teams this season Dec. 7 at the Carrier Dome.
