Gettin' physical
Mountaineers, Gonzaga ready for rough battle

PITTSBURGH - If West Virginia's opening game in the NCAA tournament tonight is anything but a rough, physical, no-blood-no-foul kind of event, the Mountaineers are going to be very disappointed.

But so, too, will Gonzaga.

In fact, that was pretty much all either side seemed thrilled to talk about on the eve of the game.

Time for some Accuracy from WVU, it's been missing most all year with the exception of KJ!

WVU should win on the physical side but if only Jones is hiting his shots it wont matter much. Gonzaga will take smart shots and spread the ball around. First Defense will be a HUGE factor becasue you have to play in their face. They will go inside but only after they cant get a good shot outside. Their an OK 3 point shooting team but still cant let them get open to much. Gonzaga is very disciplined and smart. Being more physical wont mean squat if you cant score or stop them from it. Which Truck is going to show? Guard play could be the deciding factor.

Happiness is playing an NCAA Bracket Pool, and seeing "West Virginia" on it. It's a great day to be a Mountaineer, wherever you may be. To quote David Bowie..."Let's Dance".

Accuracy hasn't been the Mountaineer's strong suit, including KJ. I hope tonight is different and we can knock down the open shots and bring their defenders out to defend.

I hope Deniz plays hard tonight. The last couple of games he seemed to be very slow in all aspects of the game, including in transition. I really thought he was hurt or sick. Whatever it was, I hope he's over it and is back to playing the way he played in the middle of the season-- aggressively and tough. Let's just hope that all the guys are playing better than they did at the end of the season. It's time to dance, Mounties.

    GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!

I guess poor little herdwonnone and housefly have been called to do overtime at the drive through window or they would be on here with powerful, strong words designed to make us tremble in our boots...lol Where are you???

Personally, I like it when they post about our guys, it shows their envy is over the top!!! FIVE years in a row for the Mountaineers in the Big Dance and they STILL try to lamely find something to say about our team. Pathetic..but I give them kudos for actually having the guts to post their drivel and then try and stand by it. All you have to do is look at the overall records from the last few years, or as far back as you choose to go, and you can see the VAST difference in the two programs. One is a legitimate NCAA contender and the other is...well it something, but certainly NOT a contender. Can you actually believe that even though they can see the same records that we do and they still want to say bad things???

Seacat - I'm pretty sure that Deniz has a bad hip injury. One of those situations that won't heal until he gives it a break for a few consecutive weeks. I too hope he is feeling well tonight and that Truck is "on". GOOOOOO MOUNTIES !!!!!!!!!!!!

Within this forum, there are 3 different categories of fans who post here…

    1) WVU Team Fans. These are people who are knowledgeable about sports and their enjoyment comes from watching their teams compete. They have favorite players and they root for the team to win every chance they get. They love competition and enjoy discussing the strategy used in the previous games. To them it’s all about cheering on the Mountaineers.

    2) Bob Huggins Fans. These are people who follow the coach rather than the team and only want to win to add to the coach’s legacy. They follow and believe every word of the coach and are offended if someone questions them. They feel it is their lot in life to defend the honor of the coach regardless how the team performs.

    3) Disgruntled Marshall Fans. These are delusional people with deep seeded emotional problems. No one really knows why they come here or why they are bitter. They seem to hate anyone who follows WVU and are only happy if WVU loses.

Correct Sara Dennis has a hip flexer has been a problem since right before the MU game that is why he didnt play in that game. @ Master Of One I wonder which category you place me in because I cant place myself in any of the 3 you talk about. So might I recommend a fourth. Fans of college sports that love the game/games, which may be a "fan" of MU but follow WVU because they only want the beautiful state they live in to have positive success and attention. This group learned a long time ago being Pety towards WVU does nothing but waste time arguing with other pety people, really doesnt accomplish much at all. Today as a matter of fact you have BKDIH who has placed himself at odds by being pety when it was really not necessary. It is possible to be a fan of one school and support the other but I think it takes someone that sees sports as entertainment and not as if their life depends on it.

@master of one, where do you fit in. You put down wvu every chance you get. That takes out number one. We know your jealous of huggins. That takes out number 2. I guess you fall in number 3 then.

Wondering which is worse....Marshall fans posting on WVU articles, or WVU fans constantly posting about Marshall on WVU articles. Pretty sad when you have to pump your chest on another teams article, or when you cant even post about your own team with out bringing up another...lame on both counts.

If I am reading this right I do believe 2teethtucker has called out BKDIH for his "not-related to this topic but rant about MU" post. The sad thing is we where all talking about what WVU had to do to win tonight and the usual filth showed up, as always. Cant we all just agree that we hope for a a good game out of the eers tonight? I know I do but sadly I fear those truly pety people wont be able to move past their crazy MU hating rants to realize this is a time to cheer on their beloved WVU. Sad when an MU fan sees it and WVU's own fans dont. Oh well please Truck play good tonight and play some flipping defense!

    Herd98,

You have spoken with great wisdom. I have to keep things simple in here because of so many juveniles who post comments so I only listed 3.

I concur with category 4 and would actually place myself in 1 and 4. I have never looked upon you as being “delusional” but rather a well informed sports fan that sees the Big Picture.

It only takes one or two to ruin things for everyone and I must add there are delusional WVU Fans as well.

You and I don’t always agree but I consider you one of the “good guys”.

Deniz ran his mouth about Gonzaga before the game. Gee thanks. Too bad he can't be leaving instead of Jones.
