Prep roundup: No. 1 Hurricane handed loss

P.J. Sardinia laced a game-winning single as host Independence, N.C., earned a 4-3 comeback win over Class AAA No. 1 Hurricane in a prep baseball game on Wednesday.

Ben Williams and Austin Hensley each had two hits for the Redskins (14-2), with Hensley also picking up a double.

Sardinia also doubled and drove in another run for Independence (10-5).

  • WAHAMA 12, TRIMBLE 3: Isaac Lee went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for visiting Wahama.
  • Zach Warth and Wyatt Zuspan each drove in two runs for the White Falcons (6-8). J.D. Chesser had a double and an RBI for Trimble, Ohio (3-8).

  • RIPLEY 4, SC 0: Tyler Casto went 3-for-3 with an RBI for host Ripley. Logan Welling recorded six strikeouts in seven innings for the Vikings (7-8). South Charleston (5-12) was limited to three singles.
  • EAST CHESTER 6, RIVERSIDE 4: Mare Medico drove in three runs for visiting East Chester, N.Y. Trevor Davis went 2-for-3 for Riverside (9-9), while Doug Prater went 2-for-2.
  • BRIGHTON 6, SISSONVILLE 4: Matt Saint-Miller drove in two runs for visiting Brighton, N.Y. Taylor Hogan went 3-for-4 with a double for Brighton (2-5).
  • Eli Mooney went 3-for-3 with a double and Dillan Asbury had a triple and an RBI for Sissonville.

  • GILMER 7, VALLEY 5: Nathan Ellison was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs as Gilmer County picked up a road win. Carl Bennington was 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI for the Titans (12-3). Mark Hess had four hits and an RBI for Valley (14-3).
  • LOGAN 13, MAN 0: Cody Frye pitched a no-hitter and struck out eight for visiting Logan. Alex Mareske hit a grand slam and Zach Minnick and Justin Oney each drove in two runs for the Class AAA No. 10 Wildcats (8-3). Class A No. 9 Man fell to 9-7.
  • Tuesday's games

  • POCA 9, CHAPMANVILLE 2: Josh Myers collected two hits and three RBIs as the Dots rolled to a Cardinal Conference road win.
  • Noah Frampton was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Poca (11-5). Jordan Banks doubled for the Tigers (8-7).

  • SA 8, HUNTINGTON 4: Ethen Glenn tripled and drove in two runs and Josh Kiser improved his pitching record to 5-0 as St. Albans (13-3) earned a road win.
  • Joey Mundy (2-for-3) had two doubles for the Highlanders.

  • MAN 16, VAN 6: Braden Griffin had four hits, finishing a triple shy of the cycle, and drove in four runs as Class A No. 9 Man (10-6) won in five innings.
  • Jacob Riggins had two hits and drove in three and Nick Carter added three hits and two RBIs for the Hillbillies. Van (1-12) managed two hits.
