Host St. Albans rallied with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn a 3-2 victory over Hurricane at the Ed Carter Memorial baseball tournament Friday at Loftis Field.

The Redskins (14-3), the No. 1 team in the Gazette's Class AAA state ratings, led 2-0 before SA got to starter Drew Lawrence, who finished with a five-hitter and eight strikeouts. Lawrence had a one-hitter going until the home half of the sixth.
The comeback earned a win for SA's Joey Dodrill, who fired a three-hitter with nine Ks.
"It was definitely a pitchers duel,'' said St. Albans coach Rick Whitman. "Both kids threw well. We had some timely hitting when we needed it, and that's what it takes when you have good baseball teams. Usually it's who has the timely hits and comes through when you've got to come through. Fortunately, we were able to do that today.''
Josh Burkes stroked a two-run single in the sixth for the Dragons (15-3) and Tyler Matthews broke a 2-all tie with a two-out single.

Connor Golden went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Irish (12-4) while Ian Lough was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs. Colby Brogan went 3-for-3 with a double for the Panthers (2-14).

Maddi Marshall added a double in each game for the Red Dragons (17-2).
