Trent Stevenson (1-0) was shaky in relief for the Power but picked up the win anyway, yielding five runs on six hits in three innings while striking out two. Starter Nicholas Kingham went four innings and gave up just one run on three hits and a walk in four innings. Kingham struck out three.
Greenville starter Miguel Pena was tagged with the loss after getting pegged for seven runs (four earned) in 42/3 innings while walking one and striking out five.
West Virginia will continue the home stand tonight when it opens a three-game set against Asheville at 7:05.
