Tyler Hall fired a two-hit shutout to lead Riverside past host Parkersburg 10-0 Friday in a five-inning mercy-rule high school baseball win.
Hall surrendered two singles, struck out five and walked two. Mark Hale went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Warriors (13-12) and Doug Wright legged out two hits, including a double, and drove in two.
CHARLESTON CATHOLIC 8, WILLIAMSTOWN 5: Kiefer Hovorka hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to lift visiting Charleston Catholic to its sixth consecutive win.
Conner Golden had a solo homer for the Class A No. 2 Irish (17-4) while Rocco Wilcox went 2-for-3. Austin Eddy knocked in two runs for Class A No. 7 Williamstown (17-5).
HURRICANE 4, MIDLAND 0: Riley Metz gave up three hits and struck out seven as the AAA No. 2 Redskins blanked Cabell Midland at home.
Austin Hensley went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Hurricane (19-3) and Trey Dawson added a double. Cody Ballengee doubled for the Knights.
NITRO 3, WINFIELD 1: Dylan Slack and Kip Brewer each went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the host Wildcats. Korey Dunbar registered five strikeouts in two innings of relief for AAA No. 9 Nitro (15-5).
Barrett Arnold went 3-for-4 with a triple and Matt Wright went 2-for-4 with a double for Winfield (11-9).
WAYNE 10, SISSONVILLE 2: Tyler Adkins struck out 11 and went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs for the visiting Pioneers.
Ryan Harless went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs and Corey Pancake add a home run and three knocked in three for AA No. 8 Wayne (12-8). Leighton Baldwin went 2-for-3 for the Indians (7-16).
LOGAN 10, RIPLEY 0: Alex Mareske went 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs for the host Wildcats. Andrew Staton went 2-for-3 with two runs knocked in for the AAA No. 7 Wildcats (13-3). Jamin Jones doubled twice for the Vikings.
VALLEY 8, FAYETTEVILLE 3: Robbie Belmont blasted a round-tripper and had three RBIs as the Class A No. 9 Greyhounds downed the Pirates at home. Arik McGinnis went 2-for-4 for the Greyhounds (17-5). Dustin Shumaker had a home run for Fayetteville.
WAHAMA 18, WATERFORD 2: Zack Warth doubled four times as the White Falcons downed host Waterford (Ohio). Wyatt Zuspan had three hits, including a double, for Wahama (13-10) while Zach Wamsley went 2-for-3 with a homer. Matt Ginther doubled in two runs for Waterford (1-12).
HURRICANE 9, POCA 1: Linzie Reynolds pounded out three hits, including a double, and knocked in three runs for the AAA Redskins. Nicole Pierson went 3-for-4 with a triple for Hurricane (22-5) and Madison Casto legged out three hits. Morgan Ball went 3-for-3 for the AA Dots (9-13).
RIVERSIDE, VALLEY SPLIT: Riverside plated five runs in the bottom of the fourth and four in the fifth to earn an 11-3 come-from-behind win in five innings over Valley in the nightcap to gain a doubleheader split.
Kaylee Cooper limited the Warriors to two runs on three hits as the Greyhounds edged Riverside 3-2 in the opener.
Riverside trailed 3-2 after the top of the fourth in the second game, but put together the two big innings to invoke the mercy rule. Morgan Long and Kaylee Wolfe had two hits apiece for the Warriors. Kelsey Bird went 2-for-3 with a double for Valley (13-4) in the first game and 2-for-2 in the second game.
CATHOLIC 13, CROSS LANES 3: Elise Peden drove in two runs for host Charleston Catholic and Alexandra Persily went 2-for-3 for the Fighting Irish (4-14).
SHERMAN 15, VAN 1: Mackenzie Smith went 3-for-3 with a double, grand slam and five RBIs as the host Tide picked up a three-inning win. Jordan Lewis added a double and drove in two for Sherman (14-9) while Hali Jarrell and Hallie Jarrell each had two hits. Stevie White singled for the Bulldogs (9-13).
