Prep roundup: Riverside, Hall shut out Parkersburg 10-0

Tyler Hall fired a two-hit shutout to lead Riverside past host Parkersburg 10-0 Friday in a five-inning mercy-rule high school baseball win.

Hall surrendered two singles, struck out five and walked two. Mark Hale went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Warriors (13-12) and Doug Wright legged out two hits, including a double, and drove in two.

  • CHARLESTON CATHOLIC 8, WILLIAMSTOWN 5: Kiefer Hovorka hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to lift visiting Charleston Catholic to its sixth consecutive win.
  • Conner Golden had a solo homer for the Class A No. 2 Irish (17-4) while Rocco Wilcox went 2-for-3. Austin Eddy knocked in two runs for Class A No. 7 Williamstown (17-5).

  • HURRICANE 4, MIDLAND 0: Riley Metz gave up three hits and struck out seven as the AAA No. 2 Redskins blanked Cabell Midland at home.
  • Austin Hensley went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Hurricane (19-3) and Trey Dawson added a double. Cody Ballengee doubled for the Knights.

  • NITRO 3, WINFIELD 1: Dylan Slack and Kip Brewer each went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the host Wildcats. Korey Dunbar registered five strikeouts in two innings of relief for AAA No. 9 Nitro (15-5).
  • Barrett Arnold went 3-for-4 with a triple and Matt Wright went 2-for-4 with a double for Winfield (11-9).

  • WAYNE 10, SISSONVILLE 2: Tyler Adkins struck out 11 and went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs for the visiting Pioneers.
  • Ryan Harless went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs and Corey Pancake add a home run and three knocked in three for AA No. 8 Wayne (12-8). Leighton Baldwin went 2-for-3 for the Indians (7-16).
