In the nightcap, Billy Smith went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and six RBIs for WVSU (17-23, 15-15 West Virginia Conference) while Temple went 5-for-5 with a double, two home runs, three RBIs and four runs. Blackhurst and Andrew Frazier each added home runs for State.

TECH BASEBALL: WVU Tech swept a doubleheader Friday from Lindsey Wilson Friday at Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley, winning 6-2 and 4-3.
Chris Barnett gave up two runs on seven hits in a complete game for Tech in the opener. The Golden Bears scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.
In the second game, Grant Williams and Austin Lucas each had RBI singles for the Golden Bears (21-28), while Cody Craft's sacrifice fly that scored Ryan Kessinger in the sixth proved to be the difference maker. Aldemar Betrian recorded his eighth save of the year for Tech.

In the first game, Logan Tretick went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and two runs for UC, while Bethany Cera went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Kayleigh Huck had a three-run homer for Glenville.
Micki Murzynski went 2-for-4 with a two run homer for Charleston (33-16, 21-4 WVC) in the second game while Janeen Vazquez went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Morgan Scarpellini had a two-run home run for the Pioneers (13-30, 8-15).

Freshman Billy Fleming led the Mountaineer offense with three hits and an RBI, while Ryan McBroom had two hits, including his sixth home run of the season.
The Mountaineers improved to 16-23 overall and 4-9 in the Big East while the Panthers dropped to 18-19 and 3-10.
nnWVU TRACK: Juniors Jordan Hamric and Aubrey Moskal had strong performances Friday to lead West Virginia at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
Hamric finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a career-best 10:28.71, while Moskal completed her first career 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11th place with a Big East-qualifying time of 10:38.62.
nnWVC TENNIS: Charelston's Sam Humphrey and Matt Sherba were named to the All-West Virginia Conference men's tennis team on Friday. Chris Pratt of Shepherd, a former George Washington standout, was also named to the team.
Bluefield State took two of the superlatives, with Shikar Kapur named the conference's player of the year and Louis Belt earning coach of the year honors. Leonardo Vieira of Davis & Elkins was honored as the conference's freshman of the year. (See list, Page 2B.)
nnMU GOLF: Marshall men's golfer Bosten Miller was named to the Conference USA men's golf all-academic team Friday. This is the second consecutive year Miller has been named to the team.
