Logan's Williamson leaving West Virginia

Paul Williamson has decided to leave West Virginia's basketball program and seems likely to wind up playing in the West Virginia Conference at Fairmont State.

A walk-on from Harts who played at Logan High School, Williamson was an occasional surprise for the Mountaineers last season as a true freshman with his 3-point shooting. But he played sparingly.

"I think that guys ought to do what makes them happy,'' West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said. "Paul loved playing at West Virginia and had a great experience, but he just wanted to play more.''

If Williamson does wind up in Fairmont, as expected, he would be playing for new coach Jerrod Calhoun, who was a Huggins assistant last season.
