WVU, Florida State settle on canceled game
Advertiser

Florida State and West Virginia have reached a settlement after the Mountaineers pulled out of the teams' scheduled 2012 football game.

Florida State athletic director Randy Spetman said Wednesday that WVU has agreed to pay $500,000 by the end of May.

The FSU-WVU game was slated for Sept. 8 in Tallahassee and was expected to be a showdown of top-20 teams. But West Virginia backed out of the game on Feb. 4 as part of its transition from the Big East to the Big 12 for the upcoming season.

Spetman said that FSU's game that was scheduled to be played at West Virginia in 2013 has been canceled as part of the settlement.
