Fairmont native and five-time Olympic gymnastics medalist Mary Lou Retton Wednesday was named No. 38 on the Top 40 Female Athletes of the Past 40 Years by espnW in conjunction with ESPN's SportsCenter.
The list is part of ESPN's "The Powerof IX," which commemorates the 40th anniversary of Title IX, the historic legislation that leveled the playing field for women in sports.
SportsCenter will count down the Top 40 list through June 22.
