WVU's Cook, Garwin arrested for shoplifting

West Virginia starting safeties Darwin Cook and Terence Garvin face misdemeanor shoplifting charges stemming from the alleged theft of snacks from a Morgantown convenience store.

A criminal complaint says a Monongalia County sheriff's deputy arrested Cook and Garvin on Tuesday.

A store manager says two men entered the store and took several items without paying for them, including bottled drinks, pretzels and other snacks. The theft occurred last month.

Well how sad is this? First of all I think now it's obvious that stuff like this happens everywhere. So all the WVU fans that attack MU regarding similiar happenings need to back off. How could these young men risk a free education and a chance to play 1A football for a few snacks? How very, very sad.

So few comments. Did you notice the last 5 word sentence? "The theft occured last month"? Why hasn't this been brought out before? Why wasn't the arrest made before? Sounds like a case of the munchies on steroids!
Let's see what some brainiacs said:
"I love it when marshal fails ALMOST as much as when West Virginia wins."
    So, you still "loving it"?

"Huntington is a Drug Infested Town for sure. The Crack Heads from Detroit call it Moneytington. When Boss Hog was the Coach he had somebody at the Police Station waiting all the time...."

So I suppose Morgantown now is "drug infested for sure"? Do the crack heads from Pittsburgh call it Morganhole? I guess Holgorsen is a bit shy about hanging out at the jail, lest someone get the wrong idea huh?

"Why was this hidden from the public? I want a Senate investigation now. Heads should roll."

Agreed! Works even better now doesn't it? You know, flagship, THE university...etc.,

Stones? Glass houses? Ring a bell....anyone?

Look at all the Marshall fan's here. Wow. That's more Marshall fans posting on a WVU article than I've ever seen post on a Marshall article. As to the Gatorade in the football locker room. It's my understanding that they get one free meal a day during the summer, and no free gatorade in the locker room. It's pretty sad that they have to resort to shoplifting to eat. I don't know. Maybe they were just wanting to snack, but I doubt it. I'm not taking up for their behavior, I'm just saying maybe there was a reason for it.

Expected comeback from gold/blue. Same you would get from any 10 year old. Fact is that you know full well that you love to make those ignorant comments but when the shoe is on the other foot you get defensive.

    Herd 98,SupaFly,and all the rest of you Marshall cry babies;

You people are almaost always the first ones to post on WVU boards wether the subject be good or bad. Honestly,it just shows how sorry and lonely you really are. It's like you sit in your grandmas' basement waiting in great anticipation for the next WVU article to come out. Really makes you day hey? You know it does. Still a little miffed that Bruce Irwin got picked in the first round and your boy the second. You were so sure weren't you. That's why you for once stayed off our boards. Let's get this straight right now! Marshall has never been or never will be as good as WVU!! You can hope for it ,wish for it,dream about it in your thundering herd pajammas and bed linen, and fantasize about it while drinking coffee from your green and white plastic cups. But it will never ever be .Come on here and post all the crap you want to. You are second rate jealous people from one of the worst towns in America. AND YOU KNOW IT!! C YA

2 close calls in Huntington followed by a wvu's quick "we want to play you at home only"....ring a bell?

Let me ask you something. When wvu went nearly 3 decades between wins against Penn State, why did they keep playing? According to your "logic" they definitely weren't in the same class.

@jjones2011 you obviously dont come here much. I am a supporter of both schools and share from that perspective. I am a true fan of the Herd and dont deny it. I DO NOT come on here and talk trash about WVU, but I get defensive regarding ignorant comments made by WVU fans about MU. I may be the only one who agrees with WVU's fans about how Herd 91 acts on here as well. And the statement "you people" well be careful with that one, people who use that statement usually have politically incorrect views of peoples race, sex, gender, and religion. I for one have never and will never say I want MU to be like WVU. I want our identity to be ours and not like anyone else's. I think you are attempting to prove a point that you cant even begin to because what you hate about MU fans you possess as a WVU fan. Yes sir you are indeed a "BAD' fan with many "BAD" ideas and thoughts. So before you judge MU fans for what you think they do and are you should really look in the mirror.

Considering it happened last month and we get 5 short sentences for an explaination, it's not clear exactly what happened. Makes you wonder what else has happened that hasn't been reported yet. At least we haven't heard about any schools protesting a visit by the "ears"...yet.

Herd98 Just goes to show how much you reaaly know. For your information I was born and raised in the state. You say you are a fan of both schools, but was it you or not that stated on one of these boards a year or so ago that you cannot be a true fan of Marshall or WVU if you support the other. Or another silly comment, that if you did not attend that school ,you could not be a true fan. You say you have never come on this board and trash talked WVU,just WVU fans then? Right.I do not hate Marshall fans, but I do get sick and tired of them who always play the "little brother beat big brother" card when it suits them, but when WVU fans say "we beat little brother",Marshall fans get all shocked and shaken about it and please DON'T try and say you do not. Another thing,on more than one occasion Marshall posters on WVU boards, have tried to use what happened on Nov.14,1970 as leverage against WVU fans.I don't remember the poster, but it was done at least twice. Not fair to either school. More...

Herd98 Just to finish my earlier post. I will say again,I do not hate Marshall fans and I certainly don't hate the school.I have said on a few occasions that I support both schools and that I did not give a damn who knew it or liked it.They are BOTH state schools!! I f you are are so fan savvy as yuou portray yourself to be,then you will know that it is WVa. against the nation. I will stick to what I said about Marshall never being as good as WVU,but meaning, with the exception of those two Div.1AA titles,on the playing field. That is one thing you have over WVU and you should be proud of it.I am sure you are.You talk about me being Bad. I am not bad and I am not in any position to think I am better than anyone. My point in my first post was that Marshall fans are the first to stick thier two-cents worth in by bashing WVU fans on thier own boards. Yes,it has happened the other way around as well. But you know as well as I do who does it far more.I don't hate anyone. You use hate a lot!!

As a WVU alumnus, donor, and season ticket holder, I just want to say that most of you people are morons. These are teenagers, young kids, away from home/family, new to college life. So yes, a minority will have shoplifting DUIs, bar scuffles, out of hand parties, disorderly conduct, whether athletes or not. And its lunacy for WVU-MU fans to keep score on this count; their student athletes are in the long run equally vulnerable to mischief. So lets focus on the score on the field, not the score on the police blotter. On that count,11-0 is all that matters.

Herd98 First of all I would like to apoligize to the city of Hunington about the comments I made in my first post. It was rude and I apoligize for saying them. Hunington is no worse than any other city in the country. Yes it has it's problems, but what city doesn't. I was wrong and I admit it.Second, please excuse some of my grammer and typing mistakes. I am trying to get my message out and I type slow. Third,it is a shame that posters from both schools don't show each other more respect than what they do. I admit as have been as guilty as anyone. I t's just a shame really. Nothing wrong with a bit of banner between rivals, but some of the things I have read, and yes posted myself can be below the belt.Maybe it's time we all looked in the mirror and that includes you Herd98. Practice what you preach.

Years ago, I had a family member who was freinds of friends of some players in Huntington that later played professionally. She said it was common for them to walk in many of the establishments along 5th Ave and get free goods, anything from food at one of the fast food joints to gas and goods at the convience stores.

I've also heard of the same thing happening in Morgantown. Cashiers recognize these players and will give them stuff free of charge. Without having actual knowledge of what happened in this incident, that would be my first guess.

@jjones2011 your last post was stated well. Earlier posts I believe you have me confused with someone else because I have never stated anything like you think I have. In fact most of the regular posters on here have agreed I am one of the good guys. I cant stand the way both MU and WVU fans get so rude and crude. I also do not agree that MU has more that post negativity than WVU. WVU has more fans thus they have more post negatively on the Gazette and the Post. MU has a couple who are notorious for it and I have commented on my displeasure regarding their behavior as well. I will continue to support our state just as you stated you do because you are correct our state needs our support as citizens. That means both schools need our support because knowone else is going to outside of our beautiful state.

Herd98 Thanks for responding, good to hear from you.I agree that fans of both schools can treat each other so mean and cruel. Like I said before, there is nothing wrong with a little friendly banter or trash talk if you will, but remember for heavens sake that BOTH schools are in the same state. Both have a lot to offer. We will just have to agree to disagree on the negativity issue. I have just seen too many bad posts so I am sticking by what I said.It is my conviction that MU posters start a lot of trouble on WVU boards. I know WVU fans do it as well. It's just a shame that people cannot grow up and treat each other with more respect. That goes for BOTH SCHOOLS! Yes in fairness to you I have read more than one of your posts voicing your disapproval of MU fans who act like idiots.Maybe if enough of us get on here and voice that same displesure, maybe at least it will die down to a low roar. Both sets of fans must remember,we are all a part of this incredible state.Hope all is well HERD98.
