Roundup: Carrier-Eades advances to NCAA track championships

West Virginia University's Chelsea Carrier-Eades finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles Saturday at the NCAA East Regional Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla.

Carrier-Eades, a Buckhannon native, finished in 13.10 seconds and now qualifies for the NCAA Outdoor track and field championships June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa.

West Virginia's Chene Townsend placed 16th in the 100 hurdles.

  • WVC TRACK: Seton Hill's Mallory Sanner earned All-America honors after finishing fifth in the javelin at the NCAA outdoor championships Saturday in Pueblo, Colo. Sanner's teammate Calsie Boyd placed 10th in the high jump.

  • Wheeling Jesuit's Stewart Jones placed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeple at the NCAA outdoor championships Friday in Pueblo, Colo. Jones, who was also named to the All-America team, finished in 9:19.95.

  • POWER ROSTER MOVE: The West Virginia Power recalled right-handed pitcher Vince Payne from State College Saturday. To make room for Payne, the Power transferred right-hander Emmanuel De Leon to State College.
