Roundup: Lexington blasts four HRs, dumps Power 9-3
West Virginia Power pitching gave up four home runs as Lexington rolled to a 9-3 win at Appalachian Power Park on Sunday, salvaging a four-game series split.
Brandon Meredith, Jordan Scott, Mike Kvasnicka, and Delino DeShields, Jr., each went deep in a 12-hit effort for the Legends.
Power starter Zack Von Rosenberg (0-2) was tagged for seven runs on eight hits in five innings in taking the loss. Jose Osuna doubled and drove in a pair of runs for West Virginia.
Lexington starter Nicholas Tropeano (6-4) gathered the win after yielding just two hits and three walks in six shutout innings with six strikeouts.
The Power start a four-game set at Lakewood tonight at 7 p.m.
EVANS SHOOTS 76: Berry Hills professional Barry Evans fired a 4-over 76 on the first day of the PGA Professional National Championship in Seaside, Calif.
Evans, who won the event in 2002, played his opening round on the Black Horse course, one of two being used to stage the championship. Mike Small shot 6 under on the Black Horse course to take the first-round lead.
CHAOS WIN: Dion Peters notched the only goal in the 92nd minute as the West Virginia Chaos earned a tough 1-0 victory at Palmetto FC, S.C. on Sunday. Amar Brkic assisted on the deciding goal.
The Chaos (6-4) will return home Friday for a game against Palmetto FC at 7 p.m. at Schoenbaum Stadium.
