Roundup: Power drops Hafner to State College

The West Virginia Power transferred right-handed pitcher Ryan Hafner to State College.

To take Hafner's place, the Power recalled left-hander Orlando Castro from State College.

  • WVU SOCCER: Four members of the West Virginia women's soccer team were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team Thursday. Seniors Bry McCarthy and Bri Rodriguez, junior Frances Silva and sophomore Kate Schwindel each made the squad.

  • MU SPORTS: Marshall will open the golf season with the Marshall Invitational Sept. 10 at Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington.

  • Marshall's softball team will battle the National Pro Fastpitch All-Star team in an exhibition Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Appalachian Power Park.

  • YMCA FALL TENNIS: The YMCA will offer a Parent N Me tennis class for ages 2-4 from 1-1:30 p.m. on Thursdays for seven weeks beginning Sept. 6. Cost is $35 for members and $50 for non-members.

  • A Tiny Tot tennis class will be offered for ages 3-5 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:15 p.m. or 9-9:45 a.m. on Saturdays. Costs is $90 for YMCA members and $115 for non-members for the weekday class and $42 for members and $54 for non-members for the Saturday class.
