Prep soccer roundup: Hurricane boys roll to 7-0 win over Midland

Hurricane's Felipe Thompson scored three goals as the Redskins cruised to a 7-0 boys soccer win against visiting Cabell Midland on Thursday.

In addition to Thompson's three goals, Rodrigo Bevaqua scored twice while Evan Miles and Alex White each had goals for Hurricane (3-0-0). Matt Morgan also had two assists for the undefeated Redskins, who had a 19-1 advantage in shots.

Brodie Wallace registered 10 saves in goal for the Knights' (1-2-0). Hurricane's Brady Lawman was rarely tested, only accounting for one save.

  • HUNTINGTON 9, SA 1: Jameson McCarthy and Isaiah Black each booted home two goals as Huntington rolled on the road. Matt Miller, Evan Vega, Austin Preece, Constantine Svingos and Max Sampson each scored once for the Highlanders (2-0). Jack Wales had the lone goal for the Red Dragons (0-1).
  • SISSONVILLE 2, NITRO 0: Josh Rawson scored a pair of goals as Sissonville (3-0) downed visiting Nitro (2-2). Anthony Rinehart had 14 saves for Sissonville while Lee Klocke stopped five shots for Nitro.
  • WINFIELD 4, RIPLEY 1: Steven Taylor tallied three goals and Conner Grant added one as the Generals (3-0) picked up a road win. JoJo Greeley-Fay scored for the Vikings (0-3).
  • GW 2, WOODROW 0: Peter Nelson scored a goal in the first half and Caleb Barnett found the net in the second half as George Washington picked up a win at Trace Fork Soccer Complex. Garrett Phillips had three saves in registering his second shutout for the Patriots (2-0).

  • POINT 1, ST. JOSEPH 0: Freshman Carlee Dabney blasted a 15-yard shot past St. Joseph keeper Rachel Lee in the 12th minute as Point Pleasant earned a home win. Maggie Criste stopped nine shots for the Big Blacks (1-0).
  • HURRICANE 8, CABELL MIDLAND 0: Lauren London scored four goals as Hurricane cruised to a home win. Brittany Minor, Allison Clay, Jessica Willis and Haley Black also scored for the Redskins (2-0), who outshot the Knights 21-1.
  • CAPITAL 7, HOOVER 2: Katie Crowder scored two goals and Katelyn Leach, Emilee Henry, Josie Zarnhardt, Rebecca Demarco and Ally Reeves each scored once as Capital won at home. Cassie Hammes scored two goals for the Huskies (1-2).
  • RIVERSIDE 2, RIPLEY 0: Hannah Leftwich and Rachel Daw scored as the Warriors (1-0-1) downed the host Vikings.
  • GW 7, SHADY SPRING 0: Sarah Bodnar and Stephanie Kelly each had a pair of goals as George Washington rolled to a road win. Haley Claudio, Gabby Abad and Kasey Rhodes also scored for the Patriots (1-0). Olivia Miller earned the shutout with two saves.
