WVU's Huggins courts 6-9 Ukranian center
Advertiser

At the last minute, Bob Huggins may have found someone to fill the open roster spot on his West Virginia basketball team.

He is 6-foot-9, 200-pound Ukrainian center Volodymyr Gerun, who was the leading scorer and rebounder for his country's under-18 team in the European Championships in 2011.

Gerun isn't enrolled yet, but if he is able to iron out visa issues and arrive in Morgantown he would be eligible to play this season, barring any NCAA matters that tend to cloud the eligibility of European players.

West Virginia has an open scholarship because of the departure of center Pat Forsythe, who transferred to Akron last month.

Gerun averaged 18.2 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks for the Ukraine in last year's European Championships.
