West Virginia's Zack Von Rosenberg pitched a three-hitter to help the West Virginia Power close out the season with a 4-1 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds Monday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park.
Roderick Bernadina hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Shorebirds in front early, but Von Rosenberg allowed just two more hits the rest of the afternoon. Von Rosenberg (5-7) needed just 75 pitches to finish his complete game.
Alex Fuselier hit his first professional home run to tie the game in the fifth inning, and pinch-runner Francisco Aponte scored the go-ahead run in the sixth for the Power on a two-out double by Dan Gamache. Chris Lashmet followed with a single to bring home Gamache and extend West Virginia's lead to 3-1.
Eric Avila hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth to cap the scoring.
Eric Wooten (2-3) took the loss for Delmarva.
West Virginia finished the season with a 61-79 record but went 38-32 in the second half, finishing in a tie for second place with Hickory, just three games behind Hagerstown.
