WVU's Smith earns O'Brien weekly honor

West Virginia University senior Geno Smith was named the Davey O'Brien quarterback of the week Wednesday.

Smith completed 32 of 36 passes for 323 yards and four touchdowns in the Mountaineers' 69-34 season-opening victory against Marshall on Saturday. The Miami, Fla., native also added 65 yards rushing and a score.

Smith beat out Southern California's Matt Barkley, Nebraska's Taylor Martinez, Oregon's Marcus Mariota and Arkansas' Tyler Wilson among others for the honor.
