Suspect in ex-U.K. player's death waives extradition
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- A suspect in the slaying of a former University of Kentucky basketball player is returning to Ohio to face charges.
Police arrested 36-year-old Richard Willis of Columbus, Ohio, on Sept. 7 in Huntington on a fugitive from justice warrant.
Media outlets say Willis waived extradition to Ohio on Tuesday during a hearing in Cabell County Circuit Court.
Columbus police filed an aggravated murder charge warrant against Willis in August 2011.
Authorities say Desmond Allen was fatally shot in July 2011 outside an apartment complex in Columbus. Allison played for the Wildcats from 1998 to 2000.
