Roundup: Catholic boys roll to win in Bishop's Cup

Charleston Catholic opened this year's Bishop's Cup with a win, beating Notre Dame 7-0 at the YMCA Kennedy Center in Huntington.

Joey Trupo scored twice For Catholic, with other goals coming from Sam Revecomb, William Scriptunas, Adam Fox, Noah Cable and Mitch Thorsteinson.

Thursday's game

  • WOODROW 3, ST. ALBANS 1: Ryan Thompson scored two goals to lead Woodrow Wilson past St. Albans 3-1 at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex in Beckley. Luke Rodriguez added a goal and one assist for the Flying Eagles. Davis Atwood scored for the Red Dragons (1-7-1).

  • WVU WRESTLING: Four West Virginia University wrestlers are ranked in the WIN Magazine 2012-13 Preseason Tournament Power Index.

    Senior Shane Young is ranked No. 14 at 125 pounds coming off a 24-8 record last season and a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships. Junior Nathan Pennesi is ranked No. 18 at 133 pounds following a team-high 29 wins and an NCAA Championships appearance.

    Junior Michael Morales comes in at No. 14 at 141 pounds with fellow junior Lance Bryson ranked No. 14 at 174 pounds.
