Roundup: Slay leaves West Virginia State basketball staff

West Virginia State men's basketball assistant coach Jason Slay has left the school to take a similar position at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va.

Slay was a player for the Yellow Jackets for four years before coaching under head coach Bryan Poore for another four years.

Fred Burroughs, a former assistant coach at Bowie State, will replace Slay on an interim basis.

  • GOLF REGIONAL: The Class AAA Region 4 golf match set for Monday at Sleepy Hollow has changed directors.

    Participating teams are asked to fax their entry forms by noon today to Winfield athletic director Will Isaacs at 304-586-3601.

    Teams set to appear in the event are Cabell Midland, Huntington, Hurricane, Lincoln County, Logan, Nitro, Point Pleasant, Spring Valley, St. Albans and Winfield.
