Marshall's Andre Snipes-Booker isn't a big fan of the new kickoff rules.

"They're down there a lot faster," he said. "They're closer [to start with], and that's the thing. If the kicker gets good enough height, I could easily catch the ball and they'd be right in my face."

  • Snipes-Booker might not get many chances today, either. Rice's Chris Boswell has bopped 11 of his 16 kickoffs to the point of no return.

A season in Conference USA wouldn't feel right without a Lou Groza Award candidate, and Boswell seems better than a run-of-the-mill watch-lister. Last week at Louisiana Tech, he became the Owls' all-time leader in field goals with 34 and did it in style, banging home a 57-yarder.

That was his seventh career field goal of 50-plus yards, tying him with Florida State's Caleb Sturgis among active kickers. He has missed just once in seven tries this season and owns a 45-yard, last-play kick to give the Owls their win over Kansas.
