Roundup: Charleston's Amos finishes first in UC Invitational cross country meet

Debbie Amos of the University of Charleston finished first in the UC Invitational cross country meet in Tornado Saturday.

Amos finished the 6K race in a time of 26:13.00. Kourtney Willey (28:22.00) took third and Jenna Matso (28:50.00) earned fifth place for the Golden Eagles.

  • WVU FAN CLUB:The Charleston WVU Fan Club will meet at Harding's Restaurant at the Mink Shoals exit of Interstate 79 on Thursday at 7 p.m.

    Friday's prep football

  • LOGAN 20, CHAPMANVILLE 0: Chris Marcum ran for one touchdown and threw for another, leading host Logan to a victory against Chapmanville.
  • Marcum hit Josh Rein with a 30-yard scoring strike in the second quarter. Tyler Vernatter added a 10-yard TD run for the Wildcats (4-1) with 7:26 left to play.

    The Tigers (2-3) gained only 167 yards on offense, with running back DeShawn Alexander (seven carries, 57 yards) making his season debut.

  • WOODROW 44, RIPLEY 0: Quarterback Andrew Johnson ran for two TDs and a pair of 2-point conversions to spark host Woodrow Wilson (4-1).
  • The Vikings (2-3) managed just 7 net yards and turned the ball over eight times, including five lost fumbles.
