Roundup: WVU women's soccer team ranked No. 21

The West Virginia women's soccer team checks in at No. 21 in this week's Soccer America Top 25 rankings.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 2-0-0 weekend that kicked off Big 12 Conference play with wins over Texas Tech and then-No. 7 Oklahoma State. WVU has lost only one match since knocking off top-ranked Stanford on Aug. 26.

  • The No. 17 West Virginia University men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals as the Mountaineers defeated Iona 3-1 Wednesday at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Eric Schoenle, Majed Osman and Zak Leedom all scored for WVU (6-2-1). Ansger Otto had the lone goal for Iona (2-7-0).
  • The West Virginia women's basketball team has released its 2012-2013 schedule. The Mountaineers kick off the season Nov. 9th at home against UNC Wilmington. On Dec. 4, WVU travels to Charleston for a match-up with Marshall at the Charleston Civic Center. West Virginia will also host reigning NCAA national champion Baylor on March 2.   • MARSHALL SPORTS: Four of Marshall men's basketball games have been selected for television broadcasts. The CBS Sports Network will air three games, including the Thundering Herd's contest with Cincinnati Dec. 15 as well as home contests with Memphis on Feb. 16 and Southern Miss on March 5. Marshall's game at Memphis on Jan. 26 will be shown on Fox Sports Network.

  • Freshman Jack Hopkins scored in the 94th minute as the visiting Thundering Herd (7-0-1) earned a 1-0 Conference USA win over Memphis.
  • Following her first individual win as a Marshall golfer, Korakot Simsiriwong has been named the Conference USA golfer of the week.
