Roundup: MU starts basketball season with Herd Madness Oct. 12

The Marshall men's basketball team will kick off the season with its annual Thundering Herd Madness event on Oct. 12 at the Cam Henderson Center.

The gates will open at 7 p.m. and player introductions will kick off the event at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $5 and benefit the Marshall Tip-Off Club, a division of the Big Green Scholarship Foundation. Tickets can be purchased by calling 800-THE-HERD.

The night will consist of a two-ball competition, slam-dunk contest and a 20-minute scrimmage. Fans will have a chance to win prizes, including season tickets.

  • UC SOCCER: Rob Vincent netted three second-half goals, including converting a penalty kick in the 85th minute, as the University of Charleston men's team downed Bloomsburg (Pa.) Friday 4-1 at Schoenbaum Soccer Complex.

    Michael Hagarty also scored for the Golden Eagles (5-0-2) when he collected a rebound in front of the Bloomsburg goal and slid it past Huskies goalie Ramon Lobo in the 35th minute for the first goal of the game. Miguel Diaz kept UC goalie Sean Teepen from recording a shutout, scoring an unassisted goal in the 87th minute.
