Prep football roundup: Parkersburg turns back Riverside 38-35

Adam Roberts completed 9 of 13 passes for 149 yards, including three touchdown strikes, as Class AAA No. 17 Parkersburg edged Riverside 38-35 in Parkersburg in high school football on Friday.

Parkersburg's Kwante Johnson caught three passes for 73 yards - each for a touchdown for the Big Reds (4-2). Adam Lindamood carried 25 times for 167 yards and one TD.

Trevor Rumberg led the Riverside passing attack, going 19 for 28 for 318 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Rumberg also ran for three scores.

Marcus Reed caught nine passes for 225 yards for the Warriors (1-4), including an 83-yard touchdown pass from Rumberg in the second quarter.

  • TOLSIA 14, SISSONVILLE 7: Tolsia's Donovan Salmons intercepted a pass in the game's closing minutes to seal Tolsia's homecoming victory.
  • Indians quarterback Austin Crawford completed 8 of 20 passes for 73 yards and one interception, and Tolsia quarterback Dakota Robertson threw for 66 yards on 5 of 7 passing. Robertson also had 10 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown.

    Tolsia's Dawson Presley ran for a game-high 117 yards on 11 attempts and a touchdown.

    Sissonville (2-3) had just 147 yards of offense in the game with only 58 in the second half. The Rebels are 3-3.

  • BROOKE 34, POINT PLEASANT 33: On fourth down with 1:24 left in the game, Alec Buchmelter scored on a 1-yard run to lift Brooke to victory at Point Pleasant.
  • Brooke, which trailed 27-14 at halftime, faced a 33-28 deficit in the game's final minutes and had a first-and-goal at the Point Pleasant 1. The Bruins (1-5), however, needed four tries to score, giving them their first victory of the season.
