Prep soccer roundup: Sissonville girls now 16-2; Riverside boys win

Four players scored as Sissonville defeated visiting Poca 7-0 Tuesday in girls soccer.

The Indians (16-2) got three goals from Lydia Murray, two from Karli Pinkerton and one each from Ryan Henry and Madison Jones, with Murray and Mary Schmeck each collecting multiple assists. Poca fell to 6-7-1.

  • HOOVER 8, SCOTT 0: Hannah Schoolcraft netted four goals as Class AA-A No. 9 Herbert Hoover blanked visiting Scott. Cassie Hammes tallied a pair of goals for the Huskies (11-4-1) while Lilian and Olivia Gandee each scored one. The Skyhawks were outshot 27-2.
  • GREEN. EAST 4, SHADY SPRING 1: Shae West, Katie Ervin and Bri Coles each registered a goal as Class AAA No. 9 Greenbrier East earned a home win. The final score for the Spartans (8-4) was a Shady Spring own goal. Lindsay Thompson had the lone goal for the No. 19 Tigers (5-8-1).
  • NITRO 11, SC 0: Annie Johnson, Karly Southall, Becca Hall and Chelsea Price each scored a pair of goals as Nitro won at home. Taylor Burdette, Ashley Stephens and Autumn Griggs also scored for the Wildcats (6-8).
  • CAPITAL 2, MIDLAND 0: Ally Reeves scored twice late to lead Capital to a win at Cabell Midland (4-3-9).The Cougars (8-8) also had an assist from Tracy Gibson and goalkeeper Michelle Newhouse made two saves.

  • RIVERSIDE 5, GREEN. EAST 2: Cole Goode and Cameron Norris netted two goals for the Warriors at DuPont Middle School. Derik Chestnut chipped in one goal for Riverside (4-10-2) and Austin Ballengee had seven saves. Evan Ramsey and Jacob Baker each notched a score for Greenbrier East (7-10).
  • HURRICANE 2, POINT 0: Rodrigo Bevaqua and Avery Meadows tallied goals as Class AAA No. 1 Hurricane secured a road win to remain unbeaten. Tim Hayslett made four saves for the Redskins (16-0) and Brady Reymond stopped six shots for Point Pleasant (7-6-1).
  • CATHOLIC 4, CAPITAL 1: Sam Revercomb tallied three goals as Class AA-A No. 1 Charleston Catholic downed host Class AAA No. 20 Capital. William Scriptunas netted the other goal for the Fighting Irish (13-0). Logan Garrison had the lone goal for the Cougars (5-6-2).
  • HOOVER 3, SCOTT 1: Joel Thaxton netted a pair of goals as Herbert Hoover downed visiting Scott. The other Hoover goal was a Scott (0-14) own goal. The Huskies (4-11-1) outshot the Skyhawks 18-9.
