WVU SPORTS: The West Virginia women's soccer team climbed five spots to No. 16 in this week's Soccer America Top 25 rankings. The Mountaineers, 7-3-3 overall and 3-0-0 in the Big 12 conference, join Texas as the only two undefeated teams in Big 12 play.

  • West Virginia will tip off the men's basketball season with the Gold-Blue Debut at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the WVU Coliseum.
  • Admission to the event is free with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. A 40-minute officiated game between the Gold and Blue teams highlights just a few of the events that will occur.

  • Asya Bussie of the West Virginia women's basketball team has earned an honorable mention nod in the Big 12 Conference's women's basketball preseason awards.

  • MU SPORTS: Following a second-place finish at the Cobra-PUMA Invitational, Marshall's Nathan Kerns has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.

    Kerns had three under-par rounds, which boosted him into a tie for the runner spot at the Cobra-PUMA Invitational in Ft. Myers, Fla., at Miramar Lakes Golf Course.

  • The Thundering Herd men's soccer team took Sam Hood Field on Wednesday for the final time and walked away with a 7-0 win over Asbury.
  • Jesus Mafouta netted a pair of goals for Marshall (8-1-1), while Tom Jackson, Nick Edginton, Jack Hopkins, Michael Hayes and Andrew Ferguson had single tallies.
