Roundup: Kellie Schmitt added to Marshall tennis coaching staff

Former Marshall tennis standout Kellie Schmitt was hired as a Thundering Herd assistant coach Thursday.

Schmitt, who played at Marshall from 2006 to 2009, was a team captain and three-time Conference USA player of the year. She owns several school records and her 127 career victories rank first in MU tennis history.

  • HYCAT SWIMMING: The Huntington Y Charleston Aquatic Team will host its first meet of the season, the HYCAT Chief Logan IMX & IM Ready Age Group & Senior Invitational Swim Meet, Saturday at the Chief Logan Recreation Center natatorium in Logan.

    Approximately 100 swimmers from five teams are expected to take part in the meet, including FAST Swim from Fairmont and the YMCA of Southern West Virginia team from Beckley. Admission to the event, which begins at 9:30 a.m., is free.
