Those participating will have a chance to sit in on a practice and a question-and-answer session with Mountaineers coach Mike Carey. In addition, there will be a behind-the-scenes tour of the newly opened practice facility. The clinic is free to those who signup by Oct. 17.

  • YOUTH HOOPS CLINIC: The St. Francis Youth Group will hold a basketball clinic for boys and girls from kindergarten through eighth grade from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the St. Francis gym in St. Albans.

    The cost is $10 and registration will take place from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Adam Zimmerman will conduct the clinic with the help of local high school basketball players. For more information, call 304-727-5190.

  • COACHING CLASS: An ASEP coaching class will take place Nov. 3, 4 and 11 at Huntington High School for those interested in coaching a secondary school sport. To register, go to www.wvssac.org.

    Boys soccer

  • PARKERSBURG 3, CHAS. CATHOLIC 3: Parkersburg scored two goals in the final four minutes to forge a 3-3 draw with visiting AA No. 1 Charleston Catholic Tuesday in a matchup of state-ranked teams.
  • The Big Reds' Tyler Broadwater headed in Nick Payne's free kick with 55.5 seconds to go for the equalizer.

    Class AAA No. 7 Parkersburg (13-3-3) took a 1-0 lead in the first 10 minutes on Payne's goal before Catholic (17-0-2) answered with three straight scores from Adam Fox, Sam Revercomb and William Scriptunas. Garrett Kruger also scored for the Big Reds.  

    Girls soccer

  • GW 1, PARK. SOUTH 0: Stephanie Kelly had a first-half goal and George Washington made it stand up on Senior Night at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium in Coonskin Park. Caroline Barber picked up the shutout for No. 6 GW (12-3-1).
  • HURRICANE 3, RIVERSIDE 0: Abby Watson netted two goals for the visiting Redskins. Brittany Minor chipped in a goal for AAA No. 4 Hurricane (15-1-1) while Callie McClanahan had two assists and Hannah Thompson turned in three saves. Lauren Sparks had five stops for the Warriors (9-9-1).
  • SA 5, SC 0: Hannah Myers had a hat-trick for host AAA No. 13 St. Albans (8-7-2) while Maddie Cogar and Mackenzie Albert had one goal apiece.
