Soccer roundup: Riverside boys edge Ripley in OT

Dylan Chapman scored with 22 seconds remaining in overtime as Riverside edged Ripley 3-2 in a Class AAA Region 3 Section 1 boys game Monday at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium.

The Warriors were awarded an indirect free kick 19 yards from goal on a Ripley dangerous-play foul. Cameron Norris, who scored two goals in the game, connected with Chapman for the game-winning header.

JoJo Greeley-Fay had both goals for the Vikings.

Riverside will face George Washington at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trace Fork.

  • NITRO 4, SA 0: Evan Eich scored a pair of goals as Class AAA No. 14 Nitro downed St. Albans at home in a Region 4 Section 1 game.
  • Alex White and Matt Kahn also posted goals for the Wildcats (13-8), who outshot the Red Dragons 22-5.

    Nitro will travel to Hurricane to face the No. 1 Redskins tonight at 8.

  • HOOVER 4, SCOTT 1: Jesse Weese netted three goals for the Huskies in the AA-A Region 4 Section 2 play-in game at Schoenbaum Soccer Stadium.
  •  Herbert Hoover (6-12-2) advances to today's semifinals and will face No. 1-ranked and three-time defending state champion Charleston Catholic (18-0-2) at 7:30 p.m. at Schoenbaum.
